Preparations in Full Swing for Challenging Gulf News Fun Drive (12 January 2010)
Preparations for the Gulf News 29th Overnighter Fun Drive are in full swing.
This year’s Gulf News Overnighter Fun Drive, which takes place next Friday and Saturday (January 15-16), follows an extremely challenging route from Umm Al Quwain to Dubai.
But organisers say the route — 95 per cent of it on sand, and featuring some high dunes — will give novices an excellent chance to hone their off-road skills, as well as providing a challenge to experienced desert drivers.
Participants can collect their information packs from the reception area at the Gulf News office on January 13.
They need to bring along their original receipt and also the drivers’ details form, together with either a copy of the passport or a copy of the Emirates identity card.
Gulf News will not release info packs unless the form is submitted.
The Fun Drive will start at the UAE Motorplex, Umm al Quwain. Check in will commence at 6am and participants will be flag ged off at 7.15am.
