UAQ Chamber, JETRO Discuss Cooperation (1 October 2018)
The Umm Al Qaiwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Japan External Trade Organisation, JETRO, continued their talks, which began in June on promoting investment, at the headquarters of the chamber.
During the meeting, both sides agreed that a Japanese delegation representing business owners will visit the emirate to discuss, with their local counterparts, ways of promoting cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Saeed bin Nasser Al Talay, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Khalfan Ahmed Musfer, Deputy Chairman, Aisha Rashid Liateem, Member of the Board of Directors, and Masami Ando, Director-General of the Dubai, Middle East and North Africa JETRO Office, who was accompanied by Tomohiro Tsuchiya, JETRO Executive Director, and his first assistant.
Ando expressed his pleasure at again meeting the chamber’s officials, while adding that JETRO aims to reinforce the ties between the two sides, as well as develop investment and cooperation between Japanese and Emirati investors, especially local businessmen. He also noted the emirate’s investment opportunities and infrastructure, which encourage the launch of joint projects.
Al Talay welcomed the Japanese delegation and expressed his happiness at continuing the talks and consultations on the cooperation between Japanese business owners and their local counterparts. He added that there are many investment opportunities in the emirate and highlighted its willingness to benefit from Japan’s advanced technologies.
Musfer noted the importance of cooperation between the two parties, especially as the emirate enjoys many advantages and supports and encourages investments.
Liateem expressed her happiness at attending the meeting, while noting that there are many opportunities for cooperation between the two parties, especially in holding joint exhibitions, forums and workshops.
