Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) and Umm Al Quwein Economic Development Department signed Sunday a cooperation agreement on enhancing efforts and utilizing available potentials to develop tourism industries in both emirates.

The agreement was signed by ATDD Chairman Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and Umm Al Quwein Economic Development Department Chairman Sheikh Saif Bin Rashid Al Mualla, with ATDD General Manager Faisal Al Nuaimi and Director-General of Umm Al Quwein Econ. Dept. Mansour Sultan Al Kharji attending.

The agreement targets technical cooperation regarding issuing and renewing licenses for tourism establishments, conducting tourism-related surveys, holding mutual symposia and building the proper communication channels needed to render such surveys a success.

Exchanging tourism information and offering mutual support with regard to attracting tourism investments are also among the list of targets.

By virtue of this agreement, concerned employees at Umm Al Quwein Economic Development Department will be trained by ATDD staffers on classification systems and standards approved for tourism installations in Ajman.

ATDD is always keen on exchanging experience and applying best practices with regard to sustainable tourism investment, ATDD Chairman said, adding that both parties agreed to use all available human, technical and knowledge resources to increase tourism investments in Ajman and Umm Al Quwein.

Rendering this official agreement effective would serve comprehensive and sustainable development efforts in the UAE, he said.

For his part, Umm Al Quwein Economic Development Department chairman welcomed the agreement, noting that his department is the local government entity responsible for tourism licensing issues in the emirate.

Sheikh Saif Bin Rashid said he was keen to contact ATDD within the framework of efforts to unify tourism procedures in both emirates; a move that is welcomed and supported by UAE federal government authorities.
